Norwalk,
Connecticut Traditional forms and pattern are explored in this retail and office building on Route 1 in Norwalk, CT. By banding the split base and grounded face block, the composition is highly enriched. The building explores the use of inexpensive materials to create elegant architecture. The concept for the retail space of this head shop was a broken Utopian fantasy. Entry into an interior geodesic dome is suitable for this utopian icon. This dome is pierced by misguided technology, a steel wall spiraling through the space, and engulfed buy natural forces, a primal ooze of urethane foam. Social forces further buffet the dome. Finally, the floor makes use of graffiti-covered strand board while black lights provide a non-ordinary source of illumination.Services |
