Norwalk,
Connecticut Located on a long, narrow site fronting the Norwalk Harbor, this aged beach house, built circa 1940, required a major update and addition. As a serious collector of nautical art, the client desired a house that would take on the character of an old New England oyster house. Over the years, a random assemblage of architectural elements has given spirit to the harbor-side architecture that is scattered throughout New England. Keeping with this notion, we conceived this residence as a collection of architectural elements, with each element speaking to New England coastal building traditions. Our design includes a family room, deck with lower-level living spaces, and a central stairwell that fills the house with light and connects to the view-oriented upper floor. Services |
